Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is a cosmetic procedure designed to slim and firm up the shape and contours of a patient's upper legs. By surgically removing excess skin and fat, Dr. Potyondy can effectively tighten the skin in a way that improves the inner thighs' appearance and the patient’s confidence. The best candidates for an inner thigh lift are healthy, non-smoking individuals who are done having children and who have relatively stable weight, no health conditions that impair healing, a positive outlook and excess soft tissue along the inner or medial regions of their thighs. While a thigh lift is not primarily designed to remove excess fat the way liposuction is, it can be useful for creating more attractive, slimming contours. This procedure may be performed on its own or in conjunction with other cosmetic procedures.

How a Thigh Lift Works

A thigh lift starts with anesthesia—either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia,—to make the patient as comfortable as possible during surgery. Next, Dr. Potondy makes incisions at the area to be treated, usually at the groin or from the groin around the hip. He then removes excess fat and skin, reshaping the area to be smoother and more proportionate. Sutures close up the incisions and, when the patient emerges from surgery, there may be some light swelling and bruising. It is often recommended that the patient wear a compression garment for several weeks post-surgery in order to speed up the healing process.

Results from a Thigh Lift

After a thigh lift, skin quality is typically significantly better than it previously was, both in the way it looks and the way it feels. As the area continues to heal, results will keep improving over the following weeks and months. While some scars will remain, the overall effect can last for a long while, though some changes are normal as the body ages.
